Information: Financial Aid
The International Chemistry Competition aims to make scientific education accessible to students from all backgrounds. Our mission is to enable young chemistry enthusiasts worldwide to foster their passion, ensuring no one is left behind due to financial constraints. While organizing a global educational opportunity like IChC is attached to various costs, we are dedicated to reducing these barriers. With support from sponsors, we offer limited financial aid to help more students participate in the Semi-Final Round.
Types of Financial Aid
We provide two types of financial aid:
- 50% Cost Reductions: A 50% reduction of the registration costs.
- Full Waivers: A limited number of complete cost waivers.
The availability of these reductions is constrained by sponsorship funding, which can vary each year. Certain waivers may be allocated specifically to participants from particular regions or socio-economic groups. It is important to note that the number of financial aid opportunities is very limited, and while we do our best to assist as many participants as possible, receiving aid is not guaranteed.
How to Apply for Financial Aid
To request financial aid, please complete the Financial Aid Request Form by
Monday, 20 April 2026. The form is accessible to all Qualification Round participant who have qualified for the Semi-Final Round and it requires:
- A description of your financial situation.
- An optional appendix document to provide additional supporting details.
Our team will review all requests and notify applicants about the outcome by Monday, 27 April 2026. Decisions will be sent via e-mail. Please note that exact notification dates may vary for individual participants and that we cannot offer individual feedback on financial aid decisions.
Decision Criteria
To ensure fairness and effectiveness, we evaluate financial aid requests based on the following criteria:
-
Demonstrated Need:
We consider the financial situation you describe in your application. Providing a clear and honest explanation of your financial hardship will help us understand your circumstances.
-
Qualification Round Submission:
Applicants who demonstrate high ability in their solutions may have an advantage, as we aim to support talented individuals who have shown a commitment to the competition.
Important: Given the limited availability of financial aid, we highly recommend exploring additional funding options, such as seeking support from family and friends, local grants, or scholarships. Schools may also have budgets allocated for extracurricular activities.
All participants who have qualified for the Semi-Final Round will be informed about the financial aid application.
